    Microsoft Project 2010 Timeline View

Working in project management for the government, the bane of my existence hass always been taking a nice, clean work breakdown structure in Microsoft Project and making a high level executive view of the project schedule.  Earlier versions of Project have done a poor job of converting even a small WBS into a readable Powerpoint slide.  Therefore, I have had to resort to Visio and PowerPoint graphics. It appears that Microsoft has heard my cry.  In looking for a solution for a coworker, I found that Microsoft has added a new feature to Project called Timelines.  Although I do not have Project 2010 as of yet (and government networks probably won't have it for 5 years or so), the MSDN blogs and other sites make it look pretty useful.  From what it appears, you simply designate tasks that would need to be on the timeline view, customize the look and feel, and then export to PowerPoint. I grew up as a techie and first got hooked using an old Texas Instruments programming in Basic ("Hello World" app is my fav) and then learned the fun of "integration" making my PCjr actually run the old Sierra games I wanted to play. After a lot of fun at college, I found myself entrenched in the government technology world leading projects and integrating systems for the past 11+ years. I have extensive experience in technical project management, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Collaboration Technologies, Information Sharing, and Secure Systems Integration.
